Scooter Tricks Learn How To Air And Jump The Spine

    March 18th 2010

    Air

To complete an air on a ramp you need to roll towards a quarter with enough speed, as you touch the coping pull up your front wheel and let it pop you off the coping. Once you have been popped from the coping complete a 180 so you are facing the way you came then land smoothly. You may want to try this trick about half way up the ramp so as to get a bit of practise. Always wear a helmet and protective gear.

    Jump The Spine

To perform this trick you need to roll towards a spine with a fair amount of speed, so you can reach the top. As you hit the coping at the middle of the spine pull up on your handlebars, pop yourself and use your momentum to push you forward, dip the front of your scooter and land as smooth as possible. Always wear a helmet and protective gear.

Scooter Tricks How To Perform The Disaster And The Smith Stall

    March 4th 2010

    Disaster

To perform this trick you need to be rolling towards a quarter pipe with enough speed to reach the top. Just before you reach the top of the quarter pull up on your scooter and perform a 180, land on the top of the quarter and then hop and drop back in the down ramp. You should wear a helmet when attempting this trick.

    Smith Stall

To perform this trick you also need to be rolling towards the quarter pipe with enough speed to reach the top. Just before the top you need to pull up on the scooter and rotate a little more than 90 degrees. Land your scooter deck with the back wheel over the back of the quarter and your front wheel on the ramp side of the quarter. Hop about 90 degrees and drop back in the down ramp. You should wear a helmet when attempting this trick.

Scooter Tricks How Perform A Drop In And Feeble Stall

    February 22nd 2010

    Drop In

To perform this trick you need find the smallest ramp with coping at the skate park. Position your scooter with half the deck over the coping, positioning your feet where comfortable. Then transfer your bodyweight forward and the scooter will start to roll down the drop in zone. It is important to commit yourself completely to this maneuver so the deck does not fly out from beneath you. You should wear a helmet, as this trick can be dangerous.

    Feeble Stall

To perform this trick you should be rolling towards a quarter ramp with coping. Acquire enough speed to reach the top of the ramp. Once you can reach the top, just before you are at the top of the ramp near the coping pull up on the scooter and turn 90 degrees. Then land with your front wheel on the top of the coping and your back wheel on the ramp side of the coping. Then you just need to hop turn 90 degrees and enter the ramp similar to the way you drop in. You should also wear a helmet when attempting this trick.

Scooter Tricks How To Perform The Bar Spin And The 180

    February 10th 2010

    Bar spin

To perform this trick you will want to be going slow at first. Move your feet to the back of the scooter. Then bunny hop as high as you can bending your legs in the air. This will keep the scooter level.  Whilst in the air remove your left hand, and then spin the bars clockwise using your right hand. Once the bars have rotated 360 degrees quickly catch the left bar grip, with your left hand. Then grab the right grip to stabilize the bars before you land. A tip for learning this trick is to try it stationary on the grass first.

    180

Perform this trick at a slow speed.  Make sure your feet are in the sideways position. Turn your torso in the reverse direction that you will be spinning. Slightly point your toes downward so they are putting pressure on the side of the deck. Then twist your body in the direction you are going to spin whilst jumping. Turn your head to see where you are going to land. Bend your legs to absorb impact, land and keep rolling backwards. Try performing this trick up a hill to begin, once you have perfected that. Try it on a flat surface increasing your speed with practise.

Scooter Tricks How To Perform 4 Easy Beginner Level Tricks

    February 4th 2010

We are going to name and teach you, 4 of the easiest Scooter Tricks you will ever be able to perform. Since Local Threads has sponsored Local Scooter Rider, Trey Burrows from the Hills District. We will now be posting articles on how to perform scooter tricks, where to perform them and reviews on Local Skate Parks. We will be starting at the beginner level, working our way towards difficult and more complicated tricks.

    The Wheelie

This trick may also be known as a manual. In order to perform this maneuver you must position your feet to the back of the scooter. Pull up on the scooter handlebars, to a point where you can balance yourself. As your confidence builds, practise pulling the handle bars higher and increase your rolling speed. This is the most basic trick you can perform on a scooter. It does require a certain degree of balance.

    The Endo

This trick is the opposite of the manual. Instead of balancing on the rear wheel you must balance on the front wheel. It is slightly more difficult than the previous trick, as the handlebars are not in a fixed position. To perform this maneuver, you must position your feet to the front of the scooter. Then you must make yourself light, removing some of your bodyweight from the deck and pushing the handlebars forward. At this point the rear wheel will leave the ground. Practise pushing the handle bars further down, so that the rear wheel elevates to a higher level. Try balancing as long as you can, increasing your speed and distance.

    Bunny Hop

This is a simple trick, yet one of the most important tricks you will learn. It is the building block for most tricks performed on a scooter. If you want to become an excellent scooter rider, you must first accomplish the Bunny Hop. Firstly start by jumping up and down on the deck of the scooter. Now jump off the deck, whilst in mid air pull the scooter up to your feet. The object is to have both wheels leaving the ground. At the point where this becomes easy, try to make the trick smoother, by keeping your feet in contact with the deck at all times. It Is Important to keep practicing so that you can bunny hop as high as possible, a number of tricks originate from this one!

    Kangaroo Hop

Just as the bunny hop is a very important skill to learn, so is the kangaroo hop. Once you have completed the bunny hop this is a very similar maneuver. The difference is you need to pull the front wheel up and jump from the back wheel. Think of it as combining the manual and then the bunny hop. You must develop your own style for this, as people perform this trick in all different ways. You will need to use the base of this trick later in grinding, ramp jumping and also stalling.
